Arunachal Pradesh, ‘the land of dawn lit mountains ' is one of the richest bio-geographical hotspots in India. The State is home to a wide variety of rare spices and medicinal plants. Large Cardamom is abundantly grown, due to suitability of soil and climatic conditions. Ginger, Turmeric, Chilli, Black Pepper are some of the other spices cultivated in the State. Besides the indigenous and by default organic spices, Arunachal Pradesh is renowned for other agricultural/horticultural products such as Mandarin Oranges, Kiwi etc, culinary herbs and medicinal plants.
Among the 75 spices cultivated in India, 5 spices such as such as Large Cardamom, Ginger, Turmeric, Red Chilli, Black Pepper in Arunachal Pradesh. The major spices grown in the state of Arunachal Pradesh area is 11115 Ha with Production of 28645 MT.
